Jalandhar, February 9
The Civil Hospital authorities owe Rs 49,125 to its pharmacists and class IV employees which they earned by conducting post-mortem for the past around two years.

The staff has written to the Medical Superintendent to release their dues a number of times, but to no avail.

Hukum Chand Thareja, who retired as a chief pharmacist from the Civil Hospital a couple of months ago, said: "Earlier, the class IV employee used to get Rs 2 and a pharmacist Rs 5 for conducting a post-mortem. But with time, the amount was increased to Rs 50 and Rs 55. Our dues have been cleared from July 2010 onwards and we are still to get our pending dues for a period of around two years." The Civil Hospital owes Rs 32,750 to pharmacists and Rs 16, 375 to class IV employees.

"We have written to the MS on August 30 and December 28 in 2011 and also urged him to release out dues in January 2012, but to no avail," Thareja said.
