The sanitary condition of the city is going from bad to worse as the Safai Karamcharis Union and Municipal Technical Staff Unions entered strike for an indefinite period since November 3.

Sud: Cannot mislead people with false propaganda
Hoshiarpur, November 8
District Congress leaders of Hoshiarpur have started anti-Punjab government propaganda to gain cheap popularity before the Assembly elections. Alleging this while talking to media persons here yesterday evening, the Punjab Local Government and Industries Minister, Tikshan Sud, said people of the district were wise and knew the reality. They could not be misled by false propaganda.

Baba Ramdev visits Pingalwara farm

Amritsar, November 8
Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has announced to protest against the leaders of the UPA government if it did not pass the Lokpal bill in the forthcoming session of the parliament.

He said this after visiting the farm of Pingalwara Charitable Society at Dhireke village on Amritsar-Jalandhar road, about 20-km from the holy city today.

He said he had written a letter to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to declare the black money stashed in foreign banks as national asset. He said it will bring down the all time-high inflation to a moderate level.

Hitting out at the Union government for the recent hike in the prices of petrol, he said the same petrol was being sold at Rs 46 a litre in Pakistan and Bangladesh. He relished a few of bites of sugarcane grown without pesticides and chemical fertilizers at the farm.

The sanitary condition of the city is going from bad to worse as the Safai Karamcharis Union and Municipal Technical Staff Unions entered strike for an indefinite period since November 3.

Activists of both the above stated unions led by their leaders, including Kulwant Singh Saini, Yash Pal and Kewal Lal Heer, today staged a gate rally before the office of the Municipal Council (MC) in support of their demand of regularising services of all ad hoc and part time safai sewaks and technical staff with immediate effect.

Referring to the damaged condition of roads in the city, he said 118 repair works has been started. Out of which 26 would be completed in November, 73 in December and 19 in January. — OC
