Judicial complexes for all subdivisions, assures Hooda

The Haryana Government has decided to set up judicial complexes at all sub-divisional headquarters in the state, said the state Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

Deputy charges ZP chief with sex abuse
Fatehabad, October 22
The Zila Parishad vice-chairperson, Ms Mandeep Kaur Gill, today levelled fresh charges of sexual exploitation and harassment against the Zila Parishad chairman, Mr Baljit Singh Balli. Ms Mandeep, a Dalit made these allegations in her statement before the Fatehabad City police station SHO, Mr Chandgi Ram.

New SPs for Mewat, Faridabad
Chandigarh, October 22
The Haryana Government today posted new Superintendents of Police in Faridabad and Mewat districts. Mr Mohinder Singh, SP, Security, Delhi, has been posted as SP, Faridabad, against a vacant post.

Minister visits grain market
Ambala, October 22
Haryana Excise and Taxation Minister Venod Sharma today visited the Ambala City Grain Market. Mr Venod Sharma sought information on paddy procurement and spoke to farmers who had come to the grain market to sell paddy.

Ex-minister acquitted of graft charge
Fatehabad, October 22
A local court yesterday acquitted a former minister of charges of corruption and fraud. Former minister Vinod Mariya was booked by the police on May 21, 2001 on the complaint of Suresh, a resident of Mirzapur village in Hisar district.

  Jail inmate commits suicide
Ambala, October 22
A prisoner lodged in Ambala Central Jail committed suicide in a bathroom of a Jail barrack here today. The deceased, Rajender Kumar (55), belonged to a village of Panipat district. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in a murder case and was staying in Ambala Central Jail since 1995.

Judicial complexes for all subdivisions, assures Hooda

The Haryana Government has decided to set up judicial complexes at all sub-divisional headquarters in the state, said the state Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

Mr Hooda, who laid the foundation stone for lawyers’ chamber here today in the presence of Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High court, Dr Justice D K Jain, said that the complexes at the sub-divisional level would be set as also the judicial complexes at the remaining four district headquarters of the state. A Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Mr Justice S K Mittal, laid the foundation stone for litigants’ shed and bar room in the judicial complex here. Mrs Justice Nirmala Yadav, a native of Rewari district, too, was present on the occasion.

Also, the government had decided to set up the other logistics and physical infrastructure to ensure smooth functioning of the judicial system throughout the state in 10 years’ time. The project, to be completed with the financial assistance to the state by the Center, would cost about Rs 165 crore.

Earlier, Dr Justice Jain inaugurated a Civil Court complex at Kosli, falling in Rewari district, Mr Hooda accompanied him on the occasion.

Deputy charges ZP chief with sex abuse

The Zila Parishad vice-chairperson, Ms Mandeep Kaur Gill, today levelled fresh charges of sexual exploitation and harassment against the Zila Parishad chairman, Mr Baljit Singh Balli. Ms Mandeep, a Dalit made these allegations in her statement before the Fatehabad City police station SHO, Mr Chandgi Ram.

The SHO had been entrusted with the task of recording the statements of Ms Mandeep, and Mr Balli by the Superintendent of Police.

The National Commission for Scheduled Castes had sought a report from the Superintendent of Police, Fatehabad, on the alleged caste and gender discriminatory attitude of Mr Balli towards Ms Mandeep.

In her statement before the police today, Ms Mandeep alleged that Mr Balli had been making amorous passes at her ever since she took oath as vice-chairperson of the Zila Parishad. She alleged that he always insisted her to meet him alone. When she did not respond to his amorous passes, he allegedly started harassing her. She alleged that Mr Balli had been discriminating against her on caste and gender grounds. She alleged that Mr Balli, a Jat did not allow her to sit in the chair reserved for the vice-chairperson and asked her to sit at a distance.

She alleged that Mr Balli knocked at the door of her hostel room at HIPA, Gurgaon at night in an inebriated condition and insisted to sleep in her room. She alleged that when she refused to oblige, he tried to forcibly enter her room. He left only she threatened to raise the alarm.

New SPs for Mewat, Faridabad

The Haryana Government today posted new Superintendents of Police (SPs) in Faridabad and Mewat districts.

Mr Mohinder Singh, SP, Security, Delhi, has been posted as SP, Faridabad, against a vacant post. Mr M. Ravi Kiran, SP, Telecom, has been posted as SP, Rural, Faridabad. Mr Hardeep Singh Doon, Commandant, 5th Battalion, Haryana Armed Police (HAP), Madhuban, has been posted as SP, Mewat.

Mr Sukhdev Singh, SP, Mewat, goes as SP, Security, against a vacant post and Mr Jagdish Chander, SP, Rural, Faridabad, becomes Commandant, 3rd Battalion, HAP, Hisar, against a vacant post.

Four other IPS officers were also issued fresh posting orders.

Mr Laik Ram Dabas, IG, HAP, Madhuban, has been posted as IG, Home Guards, against a vacant post. Mr R.C. Jowel, IG, Prisons, has been posted as IG, State Vigilance Bureau, against a vacant post. Mr Anil Kumar, awaiting posting orders, has been posted as AIG, Technical and Training, against a vacant post.

Mr Y. Puran Kumar, awaiting posting orders, has been posted as SP, Telecom, Haryana.

Minister visits grain market

Haryana Excise and Taxation Minister Venod Sharma today visited the Ambala City Grain Market. Mr Venod Sharma sought information on paddy procurement and spoke to farmers who had come to the grain market to sell paddy.

The farmers said they were not facing problems. Mr Venod Sharma directed the procurement agencies and the market committee to ensure that there were no problems for farmers. He said the farmers should be paid in time so that the farmers do not face financial hardship for the next crop.

Ex-minister acquitted of graft charge

Fatehabad, October 22
A local court yesterday acquitted a former minister of charges of corruption and fraud. Former minister Vinod Mariya was booked by the police on May 21, 2001 on the complaint of Suresh, a resident of Mirzapur village in Hisar district.

Suresh had alleged in his complaint that Mr Mariya had received Rs 1 lakh from him for getting him a job in the Haryana Police as constable.

He had alleged that the money was handed over to Mr Mariya on June 28, 1999 but the former minister could not get him the job.

When Suresh demanded the money back, the former minister allegedly gave him a cheque for Rs 50,000, which got bounced.

Jail inmate commits suicide

Ambala, October 22
A prisoner lodged in Ambala Central Jail committed suicide in a bathroom of a Jail barrack here today. The deceased, Rajender Kumar (55), belonged to a village of Panipat district. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in a murder case and was staying in Ambala Central Jail since 1995. According to jail sources, Rajender Kumar had been released on parole last year for one month, but he did not come back to jail till October 16. A few days ago, he was nabbed by the police and brought to Ambala jail on October 17.

According to information, around 2.30 today, he went to the bathroom of his barrack. One of the prisoners noticed that Rajender had hanged himself with the help of a cloth.

The matter was reported to the Superintendent of jail. He was immediately taken to the local Civil Hospital by the jail authorities where he was declared brought dead.
