Gurgaon incident conspiracy against govt: Hooda
Gurgaon, August 7 Addressing a public meeting here in connection with “Kisan-Mazdoor Vijay Divas, “organised by the Secretary of the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC), Mr Khazan Singh, he said some forces were unnerved with the kind of progress his government had made in the past five months of its rule. Referring to the recent labour unrest in Gurgaon and the police lathi charge on the workers of Honda Motorcycle and Scooters Ltd, Mr Hooda said it was a “tragic” incident. However, he added that even while the police lathi charge was condemnable, it was common knowledge that the workers cannot indulge in nefarious activities like beating up a DSP. The violence was orchestrated by some vested interest in the name of labour, he added. Although he did not name any organisation or political party, he attributed the violent incidents labour unrest to a “deep-seated conspiracy” against his government. He created a stir with his categorical statement that some of his “own men” may also have played a dubious role in the conspiracy. They too were feeling uneasy on account of a plethora of welfare measures taken by his government in such a short time. No one in the audience was left with any doubt that the Chief Minister was hinting at some Congressmen having played a role in the alleged conspiracy. He, however, did not dwell on the issue saying that a commission of inquiry has been appointed to look into the incident. Of significance was the presence of senior leaders of the Honda Motorcycles and Scooters Workers Union and other workers’ union in the meeting. Also present was a leader who has been made the overall chief of the joint trade unions in Gurgaon following the lathi charge on the industrial labour. |

Power was also supplied for two and a half hours in rural areas to domestic and non-domestic consumers during daytime today. He said the restrictions imposed on urban and mixed urban feeders had also been relaxed. To supply adequate power to the consumers during peak load hours, arrangements had been made to get about 450 MW of power from a company in Andhra Pradesh.
