Mr Sibia, who is also the chairman of the Haryana Bank Employees Federation, asserted that their union was opposed to the move of privatising the bank and today’s strike was a means to register their protest. However, another PNB employees’ body, the All-India Punjab National Bank Workers Federation, did not participate in the strike. In a statement issued here today, Mr J.K. Sawhney, general secretary of the federation, maintained that the strike was politically motivated. The federation asked its members to perform their duties as usual without any fear. |
