Fatehabad, September 25 Leaders like former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu, former Union Railway Minister Nitish Kumar, former Governor Sultan Singh and National Commission for Minorities (NCM) Chairman Tarlochan Singh joined Mr Chautala in paying tributes to his father at a rally organised to mark the occasion. Mr Chautala announced a monthly allowance for the educated unemployed youth in the state. The matriculate unemployed youths would get an allowance of Rs 100 per month, while those having Bachelor’s degrees or any professional qualification would get Rs 200 per month. The scheme would be implemented from November 1. However, youths, whose parents are income tax payees will not be entitled for the benefit under scheme. Only those youths who get themselves registered with the employment exchange by November would be considered for benefits under the scheme. He also assured the youth that they would now have to pay a nominal amount for various application forms for recruitment. The minimum wages for the labourers had been hiked to Rs 100 per day, he added. He announced that the farmers who had taken loans from the state cooperative banks would not have to repay more than double the loan amount. He said a Bill in this regard would soon be tabled in the state Assembly. He assured the farmers that they would not be arrested in case of failure to repay their loans. He said the farmers would now have to pledge only three acres of land as against the earlier condition of 10 acre for tractor loan. He announced the waiver of ‘taqavi’ for the farmers affected by floods or drought. He said the sportspersons of the state would now be provided free medical treatment. He said the panchayats would be given funds and sports kits for promotion of sports activities in villages. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Mr Naidu recalled the association of late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.T. Ramarao with Devi Lal. Mr Nitish Kumar decried the UPA government at the Centre for not controlling the prices of essential commodities. He said it was a pity that noted economist like Dr Manmohan Singh could not check it. Both leaders condemned the Punjab Chief Minister, Capt Amarinder Singh, for terminating river waters agreements. Punjabi singer Hans Raj Hans and playback singer Vandana Vajpayee presented songs in praise of Devi Lal on the occasion. The chairman of the World Punjabi Union, Lahore, Mr Muddassar Iqbal Bhat, had come from Pakistan to attend the function. Among others present on the occasion were Haryana Finance Minister Sampat Singh, Rajya Sabha MP Ajay Chautala, INLD MLA Abhey Chautala, state INLD President Ashok Arora, INLD women wing convener Kailasho Saini and various INLD ministers MPs and MLAs. |

Rohtak, September 25 Responding to a question regarding his ambition to become the Chief Minister, he said being a politician, he was as
willing to hold the post as anyone else, but this was a matter that was always decided by the party high command.
He said he would contest the Assembly elections if the party asked him to do so. Referring to the government’s move to hold panchayat elections before their terms expired, Mr Hooda said instead of early panchayat elections the Congress wanted the Assembly elections be held at the earliest. In fact, his party was in favour of holding Assembly elections along with the last Lok Sabha
elections. He accused the Chautala government of misusing public funds for political gains. The entire government machinery had been put at the disposal of the INLD for the Fatehabad rally, he said. |
239 students caught using unfair means
Bhiwani, September 25 A spokesman of the board said these students were caught while taking the English examination of secondary classes and English and English typewriting (practical) examination of senior secondary classes. He said a flying squad, led by the Chairman of the board, inspected examination centres in the districts of Sirsa and Fatehabad and detected 19 cases of unfair means. Two Supervisors, Prem Chand of Government Senior Secondary School, Maujdeen and Baljeet Singh of Government Senior Secondary School, Sirsa were penalised for dereliction of duty. Another flying squad, led by the Vice-Chairman of the board, inspected examination centres in the districts of Fatehabad and Hisar and registered three cases of unfair means. The Secretary of the board also led flying squad that inspected the examination centres in the districts of Karnal and Yamunanagar and caught 55 students using unfair means. Other flying squads detected 162 such cases. |
Five injured in clashes
Panipat, September 25 Two brothers, Naresh and Narendra, of Chottu Ram Chowk, were injured when one of their neighbours attacked them over some land dispute. Both of them were admitted to the Civil Hospital where the condition of Naresh is serious. In another incident, Sonu and his mother Kamla of Chajjpur village were injured when their neighbours attacked them. In yet another incident, Teja Singh was injured in a fight with his colleague in a factory. Separate FIRs have been registered. |

2 killed in road mishap
Sonepat, September 25 The truck was on its way from Patti Kalyana village (Panipat district) to Azad Market, Delhi. All injured persons were rushed to a private hospital at Kundli village and they were stated to be out of danger. The bodies of the victims had not been identified so far and sent to the local Civil Hospital for the postmortem. |
