This place is also known to have been the work place of Maharishi Ved Vyas, creator of Mahabharata. This holy place has a great following among the Sikhs too, since in 1687 Guru Gobind Singh had rested here for 52 days after the Bangani war. A large number of Sikhs also visited the mela and took a dip in the holy sarovars. The pilgrims had started arriving at Kapal Mochan mela site since as early as November 4 to take the ‘panchsnan’. The crowd then started departing soon after 12 midnight last night after having holy dip in the sarovars. A cattle fair was also organised simultaneously in which cattle of high breeds fetched a good price for their owners. The mela administration had made sufficient arrangements for the convenience of the pilgrims. An exhibition depicting various activities of the government departments of the district was one of the main attractions of the fair. A cultural show was also organised by Satwinder Singh Satti, a Punjabi pop singer, and a culture competition was also arranged in the mela during day time. Various social institutions had set up langars for the benefit of pilgrims. The mela administrator, Mrs Renu Phulia, thanked all officials and NGOs for successful conduct of the mela. Meanwhile, a pilgrim after taking holy dip at Kapal Mochan Mela near here died in a road accident late last night. CBI probe only at state govt request, HC order
Rohtak, November 8 Mr Swami, while talking to mediapersons at the Haryana BJP headquarters here, made it clear that neither could the CBI take up any case for investigation nor could the Union Government direct it on its own. When reporters sought his comments on the assertion of Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala that the state government could not ask for a CBI probe on its own, he said this statement was not tenable. He said the CBI could investigate any case on directions of high courts. The disappearance of truck driver Naresh and cleaner Azad of the village had created panic among their families and villagers. Women demanding a CBI probe were allegedly assaulted by the police when they prevented Mr Chautala’s motorcade to proceed further.
