Probe ordered against vigilance men Kaithal, September 20 A team of the State Vigilance Bureau had gone with some complainants to catch the power board official here a fortnight ago. Later, this official filed a complaint in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate here against the SVB team — DSP Ram Kumar Agarwal, two ASIs and others — under Sections 218, 342, 348, 352, 353, 365, 511, 504, 500, 148, 149 and 120-B of the IPC. His complaint was against nine persons — DSP Ram Kumar Agarwal, ASIs Suresh Kumar and Romesh Chand, head constables Balbir Singh and Dharamveer Singh, constable Hans Raj, jeep driver Surinder Singh, Raghu Nath Jindal (Assistant Foreman, HVPN) and his son, Sanjay Kumar. The official has alleged that the DSP registered a complaint against him under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act at Ambala and later raided his office with the ulterior motive of framing him in corruption case on September 3. Sanjay, son of the foreman, tried to thrust a bundle of currency notes into his pocket and then the vigilance team tried to push him into a waiting jeep. The official resisted and raised an alarm, following, which the board employees and some farmers who had come there to see the official foiled the attempt of the SVB team to take him away. The SDM, Mr Sanjay Rai, had even taken the matter to the Deputy Commissioner, Mr Anurag Agarwal, who ordered an inquiry by the ADC, Mr J.P.S. Dahiya, who has reportedly declared the official innocent. The official has now charged the raiding party with framing him in a bribery case, conspiring to prepare false record, bid to kidnap him, planting notes in his pocket and assault. |
Hooda opposes Vigilance
probe into Goel’s murder Chandigarh, September 20 In a statement here today, the Congress leader added that the family members of Goel were right in not accepting the Vigilance Bureau investigation since the agency worked directly under the control of the Chief Minister and under the circumstances a fair inquiry by the bureau could not be expected. Mr Hooda said that if the Chief Minister, Mr Om Prakash Chautala, wanted to steer clear of any controversy, he should hand over the investigation of the murder to an independent agency. |

VHP for law on Ram mandir construction Ambala, September 20 Talking to mediapersons here this evening, Acharya Kishore said the law regarding the construction of the Ram mandir should be enacted before October 14. “We want a government which enacts a law for the Ram
mandir. If the government does not enact the law by October 14, we will start an agitation,” he
said. Acharya Kishore said they were going to start a peaceful agitation. “On October 15, we will be in Delhi while Lucknow will be a transit camp. On October 17, about three to four lakh persons are going to congregate at
Ayodhya. “If there can be a law in Shah Bano case, why not for building the Ram
mandir,” he added. He said the Archaeological Survey of India report clearly stated that there was a mandir at the spot. “In fact, there are three mandirs of different periods,” he
said. Acharya Kishore, who was in Ambala for a sant sammelan, said the VHP was keen for a organised Hindu
samaj. “The VHP is running a number of beneficial programmes. There are about 6500 single teacher institutes, besides 3200 other programmes like colleges, hostels, working women hostels and
creches,” he said. “I would like to refute the allegation that the Ram mandir movement gains momentum only during elections. In 1992, when the movement was at its peak, there was no elections. Elections or no elections, Lord Rama’s statue is going to be installed at a beautiful temple, which will be built there,” he said. While congratulating Mr Advani on his being discharged from the case, Acharya Kishore said Mr Muri Manohar Joshi had set an example for others. “He sent in his resignation after it was announced that charges are going to be framed against him”. “I am ready to undergo any punishment for the sake of building the Ram mandir in
Ayodhya,” he added. |
