Sampat promises ‘soft’ Budget Panchkula, February 23 He said though the state had limited resources at its disposal, he said the forthcoming Budget would be suitable to all sections of society. He said the gram panchayats in the state were getting sufficient funds to carry on development works. The state government was paying dues to canegrowers and Haryana was among few states in the country where the cooperative sugar mills were functioning properly. In answer to a question about the Satluj Yamuna link canal, Mr Sampat Singh said the state government was committed to take up the matter with the Central Government. |
HSIDC plans 7 industrial estates Chandigarh, February 23 A spokesman of the corporation said here today that the process to acquire about 6,500 acres for these projects had already been initiated. He said during the past three years, the corporation had allotted 3847 industrial plots worth about Rs 673 crore. These projects were likely to catalyse domestic and foreign investment of around Rs 7,000 crore in the state and generate employment for about two lakh persons directly or indirectly. He said prominent companies which were allotted land during this period included Honda Scooters and Motor Cycles, Maruti Udyog, Denso, Norcool, Mitsubishi Electricals, Sunbeam Steels (a company of the Hero-Honda group), Barco, Johnson Matthey, Baxter India Limited, Stanley, Munjal Showa and Musashi Auto. The corporation was also setting up food parks with the assistance of the Central Government to give a boost to the food processing industries at Saha, Rai, Narwana and Dabwali. During the past three years, the corporation sanctioned term loans to the extent of over Rs 400 crore, of which Rs 225 crore had already been disbursed. The corporation, he said, had also earned the distinction of being the first financial institution in the country to get ISO-9002 certification. |

Nurpur village. The body of the deceased was also shifted to the hospital for post-mortem examination. The police has registered a case against the driver of the truck and has impounded the truck. |
