Vikas Parishad severs ties with BJP Ambala, January 23 Talking to mediapersons here today, the Ambala Cantonment MLA and parishad’s chief, Mr Anil
Vij, said they would not discuss the MC President issue any further with the BJP. “We held a meeting this morning and we have decided that from today, we are going to play the role of an Opposition party in the council,” he said. “During the movement, we are going to expose the true face of the BJP. The movement will start on January 31 at 10 a.m. from SD Dharamshala in Katcha Bazaar,” he said. He said the movement would end only when a public opinion forces Pandit Shankar Dass to put in his papers. “We will tell the people about the failures of the council headed by the BJP,” he stated. He said they were not asking for the President’s post on the basis of numbers. “We are demanding it on the basis of the agreement which we had entered into with the BJP,” he added. Mr Vij said no party had got absolute majority in the MC Ambala Sadar House. “The parishad and the BJP had entered into a written agreement under which the President’s seat was to be shared for two and half years. The BJP had wanted first to become the President as they had more councillors. There were two guarantors to the agreement,” he said. |
