Our Correspondent

Hisar, November 22
A local court has issued fresh summons against senior BJP leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra in connection with a defamation suit filed by Mr Kuldeep Bishnoi, a former legislator and a son of the HPCC chief, Mr Bhajan Lal.

Mr Malhotra had claimed at a press conference in Delhi a few months ago that Mr Bhajan Lal had been allotted a petrol station out of the discretionary quota.

The summons were issued yesterday after Ms Seema Singhal, Judicial Magistrate, was informed that the earlier summons issued for October 17 had not been served. Mr Bishnoi and Mr Ramji Lal, a former Rajya Sabha MP, appeared in the court today.

The court has so far recorded the statements of Mr Ramji Lal and Mr Begraj, a commission agent of Adampur, the hometown of Mr Bhajan Lal.

Mr Bishnoi has claimed in his suit that Mr Malhotra had defamed his father by wrongly stating that his father was one of the beneficiaries of the quota.

He claimed that the petrol station had been allotted to a firm in 1963 by a private oil company and there was no provision for discretionary allotment at the time.
