Food ministry official, wife found dead
New Delhi, October 25 The deceased have been identified as K. Vijay Kumar, who was posted as an advisor to the Ministry of Food Processing Industries and his 51-year-old wife, Sita, who was a banker. Kumar belonged to Tamil Nadu. The couple had been living at Kaka Nagar with their 22-year-old daughter, Varanya, for the past four years. According to the police, Kumar was found dead with his throat slit and Sita was hanging from a ceiling fan in their house at 5.15 pm. The police said that CCTV cameras are installed in the house, but they are disconnected. Investigators are probing the angles of murder as well as murder. The doors of the house were locked from the inside and the police found no signs of a forced entry and ransacking. The deaths came to light after Varanya returned home about 4.30 pm. She had returned from Jaipur and found the main door to the house locked from inside. She called her parents on their mobile phones, but they did not answer the calls. She repeatedly knocked at the door, but there was no response. She then called her father's colleagues, who were also unaware about his whereabouts. His colleagues called the police. "We reached the spot about 5.15 pm, broke open the door and found Kumar lying on the bed. Sita was found hanging from a fan in another room," said a police officer. As there was no sign of forced entry into the house, the police suspect that Sita may have killed Kumar and then committed suicide. The police, however, have not ruled out any foul play in the deaths. The police learnt that a couple had started working as servants with the family last week. A case of murder has been registered at the Hazrat Nizamuddin police station. |

BJP living in ICU, not Delhiites, says Mukesh Sharma
New Delhi, October 25 BJP's newly appointed chief ministerial candidate Harsh Vardhan had yesterday stated that the people of Delhi had been living in ICU for the last 15 years. Reacting to this, Mukesh Sharma, Uttam Nagar MLA and also the Parliamentary Secretary to Chief Minister, said that it is the BJP itself which has been in ICU and not the people of Delhi. Sharma raised a series of questions related to the alleged scams during the BJP rule. He pointed out that Harsh Vardhan, who was the then Health Minister did not open a single hospital in Delhi. "The power situation in Delhi was hit so badly that 1,353 cases were filed against the party related to the shortage of electricity," he said. |
