Dikshit decries ‘misinformation’ campaign
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, October 22
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today slammed the Delhi BJP chief Vijay Goel and others for continuing the ‘misinformation’ campaign against the Congress and the Delhi Government. She asked them to come out with the correct figures and facts and avoid using derogatory words as the elections must be contested in a civil manner. She added that the economy of Delhi is sound and its position is tenth among 32 states and union territories.

Highlighting the facts about the city, Dikshit said that the size of Delhi’s economy, gross state domestic product (GSDP), is larger than that of Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Haryana, Punjab, Odisha, Jharkhand and Chhatisgarh.

“The city is contributing around 3.8 per cent to the national economy as compared to its share of 1.4 per cent in the total population of the country. The per capita income at Rs 2.01 lakh during 2012-13 is the highest in the country which indicates the vibrant economy of the city,” she said.

“The lowest increase in the retail prices of essential commodities in Delhi and the highest per capita income increases the purchasing power and investment on capital assets by the residents of Delhi. Hence, Delhi continues to attract all those who seek employment opportunities,” she said.

Dikshit said that the opposition parties have been befooling people by making irresponsible, impossible and impractical promises on effecting reduction in power tariff by 30 per cent.
