Two die, 3 injured in road mishap
Gurdaspur, October 14
A private bus going to Jammu from Amritsar collided with a car near Ranjit Bagh, 7 km from Gurdaspur, this evening. The bus was engulfed in flames after the collision followed by a short-circuit that occurred in the engine of the bus due to the impact of crash.

One booked for killing boy
Hoshiarpur, October 14
The residents of Mohalla Bhim Nagar along with the parents of deceased Aman (11) staged a dharna after placing the body of the latter at local Phagwara Chowk here today. After the assurance of the police that the culprit would soon be arrested they lifted the dharna.

Two die, 3 injured in road mishap

Gurdaspur, October 14
A private bus going to Jammu from Amritsar collided with a car near Ranjit Bagh, 7 km from Gurdaspur, this evening. The bus was engulfed in flames after the collision followed by a short-circuit that occurred in the engine of the bus due to the impact of crash.

The over-speeding bus, which was allegedly being driven on the wrong side by the driver, rammed into the car which was going to Batala from Jammu.

The deceased have been identified as Rajesh Kumar and his sister-in-law Poonam Rani. Rajesh Kumar's son miraculously escaped with minor injuries while the other two passengers, who are relatives of Kumar, sustained serious head injuries and were admitted to the Gurdaspur Civil Hospital.

The deceased and the injured belong to Batala and were returning home after attending a family function in Jammu.

A case has been registered at the Dinanagar police station. The bus driver fled from the scene after the accident and police teams have been dispatched to nab him, said Sudesh Kumar, in-charge, Bariar police post.

The residents of Mohalla Bhim Nagar along with the parents of deceased Aman (11) staged a dharna after placing the body of the latter at local Phagwara Chowk here today. After the assurance of the police that the culprit would soon be arrested they lifted the dharna.

The police said Aman, son of Shiv Lal of Bihar, was residing at local Mohalla Bhim Nagar. On October 9 his father Shiv Lal, who was working in a factory, went for the work whereas his mother had gone to Bihar about 2 months ago. His neighbour Monu, allegedly took Aman with him on the pretext of strolling. When Aman did not return his house even during night his father informed the Model Town police station the next day.

Last evening some women of the area found half naked mutilated body of Aman in the adjoining fields. The police after getting conducted the post mortem handed over the body to Shiv Lal.

The police said preliminary investigations revealed that after sodomizing Aman, he was killed and later his body was thrown in the fields.The police has registered a case under Section 302 of the IPC and Section 4 of the Protection of Children From Sexual Offence against Monu.
