Property dealers assn to observe ‘Black Day’ today
Nawanshahr, October 6 While the state government is keen to hard sell the revised policy of the regularisation of illegal colonies in the state by inserting advertisements in the newspapers as well as directing district administration to hold camps for the purpose, the people here have been adopting ‘Wait and Watch’ policy as the Property Dealers and Plot Holders Association here has been protesting against the policy. The association organised a state-level meeting of the affected plot holders from all over the state here at KC Palace and decided to launch a stir. The association also demanded to formulate a concrete and conducive housing policy. Lalit Mohan Pathak ( Ballu), president of the association, Parminder Singh and Ashwani Joshi, among others, while accusing the state government of imposing hefty taxes on the people for the regularisation of the colonies / plots said the process of regularising of illegal colonies was not only 'complicated and illogical' but self contradictory also. In the absence of housing policy, the mushroom growth of colonies was witnessed in the state. The people had already paid taxes at the time of getting their land sale deeds registered and approving maps from the Municipal Councils. Interestingly, in majority of the main colonies the Municipal Councils have already provided basic civic amenities.—OC |
