Sukhbir: Amritsar to be put on international tourist map soon Amritsar, October 9 Taking to mediapersons after a Ram Lila function here this evening, the Deputy Chief Minister announced that the state government had set aside Rs 2,039 crore for the holistic development of the city and various development projects were in full swing. He said the first phase of the Golden Temple Entrance Plaza would be dedicated to Amritsar residents by Diwali. He said Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal would lay the foundation stone of Rs 115-crore prestigious Bhagwan Valmiki Shrine at Sri Ram Tirath in Amritsar on October 18. He said that beautification work at Durigana Mandir was also in full swing, which would give it a new look while the state government had also initiated the process of constructing a world-class parking at Attari Border to facilitate the tourists. Sukhbir said by February next year, the work on the BRTS would start and the city would witness a fleet of 150 special buses in May next year. He said that decks had also been cleared for starting work on the solid waste management project. He said a world class sports complex would also be constructed in Amritsar with a total cost of Rs 70 crore. He said the beautification work of the Golden Temple Plaza from Hall Gate would also be completed by November next year. He said Amritsar had also got nod for a state-of-the-art exhibition centre. He said the work on Heritage Village, Gobindgarh Fort and Ram Bagh was also top priority of the government and works in this regard were also in full pace. — TNS |
