Power problems dog residents
Tribune News Service

Jalandhar, July 4
Erratic power supply and fluctuation in voltage have become a cause of concern to residents of New Green Model Town and surrounding areas for the past over one month. The unscheduled power cuts with fluctuation has not only been putting residents to hardship but causing damage to their household electricity gadgets.

Residents complained that the frequent power cuts, low voltage and fluctuation in electricity supply had been adversely affecting their normal lives.

“While the daytime could be passed somehow, it became difficult to pass a sleepless night in the absence of power or low voltage or fluctuating electricity," lamented Suman Devi, a housewife.

Area residents alleged that officials of PowerCom hardly attend to their complaints. The corporation employees at the area complaint centre even do not bother to pick up their telephones, the residents alleged. Corporation employees keep on shifting their responsibility to their colleagues, complained Praveen Kumar, a college student.

The fluctuating power supply has damaged electric gadgets like ACs, TVs, refrigerators and other items of some residents in the past, causing them huge losses.

Sub-Divisional Officer Sanjv Bhagra denied the allegations, saying there was no problem in the New Green Model Town. He, however, said that some localities were facing the problem due to power breakdown.
