Residents angry over erratic supply of power, water
Nawanshahr, June 30 Subash Chander Nayyar and Surinder Pal Kaur, convenor and vice-president of the Teachers' Colony Welfare Society, said a sudden rise in the voltage had damaged the costly electronic goods of the residents a couple of months ago. Even after several complaints, the authorities did nothing as the voltage continues to fluctuate, they said. The residents had been facing acute shortage of drinking water as well. The waterworks near Baba Balak Nath Mandir have been lying abandoned by the local Municipal Council and appeals to make them operational for improving the water supply have fallen on deaf ears. An old nullah near the colony has not been cleaned for long. It has been causing problem of poor hygiene and foul smell. The association threatened to launch a stir if the authorities concerned failed to redress their grievances soon. |
