Man held for hiring contract killers to eliminate son

The Sadar police has booked Tarsem Lal, his second wife Sharanjit Kaur, his daughter Kavita, all residents of Mohalla Salwara, Bablu of Rasulpur and Pali of Shahpur Arniala, for hatching a conspiracy to kill Tarsem lal’s son Amarjit Singh.

Youth kills uncle
Tarn Taran, June 26
Mehal Singh (65), a resident of Jandoke village, 15 kilometres from here, was allegedly killed by his nephew Shindu last evening. The deceased had been raising objection over his bad intentions towards his widowed daughter-in-law.

Rally against drugs held
Nawashahr, June 26
To mark International Day Against Drug Abuse, the Sankalp Welfare and Awareness Society along with the “Sanjh Kendra” and various NGOs today organised a motorcycle rally and seminar to create awareness about hazards of drug abuse.

Man held for hiring contract killers to eliminate son

Hoshiarpur, June 26
The Sadar police has booked Tarsem Lal, his second wife Sharanjit Kaur, his daughter Kavita, all residents of Mohalla Salwara, Bablu of Rasulpur and Pali of Shahpur Arniala, for hatching a conspiracy to kill Tarsem lal’s son Amarjit Singh.

DSP (City) Digvijay Kapil, said Tarsem Lal was arrested and send by a local court to one day police remand. Amarjit told the police that his father was married to his mother Balbir Kaur, about 40 years ago.

His father had three daughters and a son from Balbir Kaur. Tarsem Lal kept Sharanjit Kaur at his house as second wife for the last 25 years.

On account of a prime property located near the city, he had a dispute and strained relations with his father. His father transferred the property in the name of his s Sharanjit Kaur without taking him in confidence. When he protested against his father’s decision, the latter engaged two contract killers Bablu and Pali to kill him alleged Amarjit Singh. His father paid Rs 1 lakh advance to them and promised to pay the remaining Rs 9 lakh later. Amarjit somehow came to know that his father had hired contract killers to eliminate him and informed the police.

Youth kills uncle

Tarn Taran, June 26
Mehal Singh (65), a resident of Jandoke village, 15 kilometres from here, was allegedly killed by his nephew Shindu last evening.

The deceased had been raising objection over his bad intentions towards his widowed daughter-in-law. Paramjit Kaur, daughter-in-law of Mehal Singh, told the police that the accused forcibly entered their house last evening with an iron rod in his hand.

Her father-in-law was going to sleep when the accused hit him with an iron rod on his head. She took her father-in-law to hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. Paramjit Kaur’s husband died four years back.

SHO Gurwinder Singh said the accused was arrested soon after the crime.

The Patti police has registered a case under section 302 of the IPC.

Rally against drugs held

Nawashahr, June 26
To mark International Day Against Drug Abuse, the Sankalp Welfare and Awareness Society (SWAS) along with the “Sanjh Kendra” and various NGOs today organised a motorcycle rally and seminar to create awareness about hazards of drug abuse. The NGOs included were Sabhyacahrak Welfare Society, Doaba Welfare Society, Sahib Kanshi Ram Bhalai Manch, Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan

Satpal Singh Bhangu, Superintendent of Police (HQ), presided over the seminar and laid emphasis on the need to curb the menace of drug abuse. The motorcycle rally culminated at Khatkar Kalan, the native village of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. The participants pledged to make efforts to curb the menace of drug abuse.
