Fiancée killed by ex-naval officer
New Delhi, March 18 The police today arrested the man identified as Mohit. He is a former officer of the Indian Navy. The police said the victim, Priyanka, stayed with her two sisters at Sagarpur. Her sisters are also constables. At about 8.30 pm on Sunday, Priyanka and her fiancé, Mohit, had checked into the Neelgagan Guest House at Nangal Raya in Sagarpur. The guest house staff informed the police that Mohit and Priyanka posed as a married couple. At about 11.30 pm, Mohit left the guest house, informing the staff that he was going to get dinner. "He didn't return to the guest house," said a police officer. Priyanka's death came to light on Monday morning, when the guest house staff knocked on her room door. When they didn't receive any response, they informed the police, who broke open the door. "Priyanka's body was lying on bed. There were no visible injury marks on her body," said the officer. The police said that Priyanka and Mohit were engaged a few months ago, but Priyanka and her family reportedly had second thoughts over the marriage as he lost his job a few days after the engagement. Investigators have learnt that Mohit had arrived in Delhi a couple of days before the incident and visited Priyanka's rented house at Sagarpur. He allegedly took Priyanka to the guest house where he killed her and fled. The police examined the CCTV footage of the guest house and the areas near it. The footage shows Mohit boarding a bus. "Different teams were formed and they arrested Mohit in Gurgaon today," the officer said. Sources claimed that Mohit has allegedly confessed to killing Priyanka. "He was furious over Priyanka and her family's plan to call off the wedding. At the guest house, the couple had an argument during which Mohit smothered Priyanka," a source said. |

New Delhi, March 18 Welcoming the JDU leaders into the party fold, Delhi BJP president Dr Harsh Vardhan said that this is the first parliamentary elections after 66 years of India's Independence in which the people of the country have already decided before the voting that they will ensure BJP's victory at centre. Five BJP layers to campaign for victory
New Delhi, March 18 According to sources, the five layers are divided into parliamentary constituency, assembly segments, civic body segments, city centres and booths. The party has in-charge in each parliamentary constituency who is known as convenor. Each MLA or the leader who had contested the assembly elections will have a team of 11 members in his segment. Likewise, each corporator will be in-charge in his area. Thereafter, the workers at the district and booth levels have been asked to convince the electorate to vote for the party. Sources said it is the first time the party has such a strong team management with a view to winning the seven seats in Delhi. When asked the names of central leaders for campaigning in Delhi, Delhi BJP president, Dr Harsh Vardhan said the names of the leaders have not been decided so far. All the senior leaders are busy in election in their constituencies. If they have spare time, the state party will invite them to address public meetings in Delhi. Vardhan, who has decided to file his nomination on March 21 at 11 am and will start campaigning from his birthplace at Phatak Telian the next day, said he would campaign for all the seven seats. When asked about the protest against the candidature of Ramesh Bidhuri in South Delhi and Dr Udit Raj in North West Delhi, Vardhan said it is a small issue. The party will resolve it soon. |
