Theft inside Metro train, Rs 4 lakh stolen
New Delhi, February 20 The police are hopeful that the footage of the CCTV cameras will provide clues to the thief. But they can only receive the footage on Friday, because the server of the cameras was not working today. The victim has been identified as Shivaji Patil. "He had received around Rs 17-18 lakh in a business transaction at Laxmi Nagar. He was travelling inside a Metro train with a bag containing the cash. At the Central Secretariat Metro station, a passenger told him that a bundle of notes was hanging out from a torn portion of the bag," said a senior police officer. Patil saw that the bag had been cut with a blade. He counted the money and discovered that about Rs 4 lakh had been stolen. He informed Central Industrial Security Force personnel present at the station. The police have registered a case and are waiting to examine the CCTV footage. |
Minor girl found dead
New Delhi, February 20 The victim, identified as Janki, was found dead at her father's home. Her parents, Deepak and Rajni are living separately after they filed for divorce. Her custody was handed over to her father two months ago by a city court. Rajni and her family alleged her daughter was killed by her husband and in-laws, the officer said. The incident came to light after Deepak's neighbours informed Rajni's father Rakesh that Deepak had taken Janki to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital as she was badly injured after allegedly falling from the terrace. She was declared brought dead at the hospital. Rakesh informed the police alleging foul play in the case. In his complaint to the police, he has said the girl was called by her daughter's in-laws. "There were multiple injury marks on Janki's chest and neck," Rakesh said. The police are investigating the case and Janki's body has been sent for post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death. The police have also questioned Deepak, Rajni, their family members and neighbours. Deepak and Rajni had married in May 2011, but they filed for divorce after Janki's birth.

Woman cop saves disabled girl from being kidnapped
New Delhi, February 20 The victim is a first year student of Janki Devi Memorial College, Delhi University, which is located at Rajinder Nagar. Last morning, she arrived outside her college on a bus. While she was walking towards her college, the accused, Sandeep (29), grabbed her hand and directed her to come with him. When she resisted, he halted an autorickshaw and tried to force her into it. "The autorickshaw driver was not aware of what was happening. When he saw the girl crying and resisting the youth, he asked her if she wanted to board the autorickshaw. When she said no, he drove away," said a police officer, adding that the autorickshaw driver was not involved in the incident. The victim is not acquainted with him. According to the police, it has also come to light that despite the incident taking place at a crowded location, no person came to help the victim. It was only ASI, Kiran Sethi, who is posted at the Anand Parbat police station and was travelling there on her scooty, came to girl's rescue. "Kiran tried stopping Sandeep but he misbehaved with her. She was dressed in civil clothes. When she told him that she is a police officer, he tried running away," said the officer. Kiran overpowered him. She then informed the police. |
Our aim is to win all 7 LS seats in Delhi: Vardhan
New Delhi, February 20 "The only challenge and aim in front of the party right now is to ensure a 7-0 win for the party in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections and help Narendra Modi become the Prime Minister," Dr Vardhan said. "Party leaders have been asked to work in this regard and soon we will come up with our list of candidates", he said. Replying to the question about differences in the party particularly between him and out-going president, Dr Vardhan said, "There are no differences. All of us are working together to achieve our common goal to ensure a 7-0 win for the party." The party cadres have already started door-to-door campaign to expose the "corruption" of the Congress and the "anarchy" of the Aam Aadmi Party. Dismissing the challenge posed by the AAP in the coming polls, Dr Vardhan said, "The AAP has become completely exposed by its activities in its 49 days of rule. People now know about the AAP's foreign funds." Reacting on the issue of the Anti-Corruption Branch not registering an FIR against Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde but doing so against Reliance Industries Limited chairperson Mukesh Ambani and Union Petroleum Minister M Veerappa Moily among others on the directions of the Delhi government, Dr Vardhan said it only reveals their "double standards." "The AAP has been maintaining double standards and engaging in double speak since the beginning on many issues. They lied and betrayed the citizens of Delhi," he said. |

New Delhi, February 20 The 46-year-old MP and two other persons, Porika Balram Naik and Binoy Kumar Pandey, were rushed to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, after they complained of uneasiness when they inhaled the pepper spray. Goud had complained of a burning sensation in his eyes. The police received Goud's complaint at the Parliament Street police station and are yet to register a case. The complaint has requested action against Seemandhra MPs L Rajagopal and M Venugopala Reddy. Rajagopal had allegedly sprayed pepper spray in the air after being stopped from rushing to the Speaker's chair inside the Lok Sabha. Reddy denied that he was carrying a knife and said that it was a mike in his hand when the Bill was being tabled. Police officers said that they are taking legal opinion in regard to the incident. They are consulting senior police officers and lawyers before filing a FIR. If the police were to register an FIR, it may be filed under Section 328 (causing hurt by means of poison) of the Indian Penal Code. |
Auto drivers feel betrayed by AAP: Activists
New Delhi, February 20 He questioned the government's announcement regarding 15,000 permits for the backward categories, including SCs and STs, saying the party has taken credit while auto drivers continue to be harassed due to Section 66/192-A of the Motor Vehicles Act. "Kejriwal has betrayed auto drivers in Delhi as none of the promises made to auto drivers was kept. Even in the 18 points missive sent to the Congress and the BJP did not have any mention of auto drivers," he said. Joining him in the attack was Bharatiya Aam Aadmi Parivar (BAAP) whose chairperson Neeraj Kumar said, "With the help of foreign funds Kejriwal is trying to bring anarchy in the country. People should see this face of the AAP and not get carried away by the emotional speeches." In response to the allegations, a member of the AAP, in anonymity, said, "Auto groups do not feel cheated by us and we have always been committed to the cause of auto drivers and we would take up their issues once we are back in Delhi again." |
