The Health Department has asked the Municipal Corporation (MC) to provide it land for setting up more Primary Health Centres in the city. Three sites have been identified by the department.

Four-day APICON begins
Ludhiana, February 20
The 69th Annual Conference of the Association of Physicians of India APICON-2014 started here today.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, organising secretary Dr GS Wander said the four-day conference would have sessions on varied subjects of medicines. There would be series of workshops as well, he added.

Overuse of antibiotics making bacteria drug-resistant, says expert

The challenge of drug-resistant bacteria and lack of development of new antibiotics was highlighted during the APICON-2014 organised here today.
Dr Mangla S Gulati, assistant professor of Medicine, University of Maryland Medical Center, USA, said due to overuse, people were developing resistance to antibiotics all over the world. On the other hand, the pace of developing new antibiotics was very slow, she said.

Education Department seems least concerned about the schools which are deprived of roofs and buildings and have been declared unsafe.
