Voters of the national Capital will now be able to get all election related information on their mobile handsets be it inclusion of their name in voter's list or query on their polling booth.

The Chief Election Officer, Vijay Dev, said that the service, commencing from Saturday, will aim at providing all the election related information to each voter of the city. "This will do away with the task of taking rounds of the election commission offices to check whether your name exists in the lists or not. The service will enable voters to verify their name in the voter's list just by sending a message," said Dev.

Elaborating about the service, he said, "The service can be availed by sending an SMS, mentioning the voter ID card number to '9211728082'. He will instantly receive a reply disclosing information about the voter list and whether his name is included or has been removed."

The voter will also receive the name and number of his constituency, polling station and the address of the polling booth where he is supposed to cast his vote.

This will come as a great help for people whose name has not been included in the voter list as they will be able to apply for the same during the programme of "Summary Revision" which will be started by the Election Office tomorrow all across the city.

During "Summary Revision", camps at 1,900 places will be conducted by the Election Office where people can clear their objections and claims. "The camps will help in correcting mistakes, if any, in their voter ID card and will help resolve other related disputes. People can also apply for their fresh voter ID cards," he said. The revision will continue till first week of September.

Cong leader accuses BJP MLA of registering bogus voters

Senior Congress leader Chattar Singh today accused BJP legislator Mohan Singh Bisht of registering more than 30 bogus voters on the name of his four-room residential house.

He raised doubts over the authenticity of the voter list of the constituency as the number of voters per house is much more than it should be.

Bisht is a legislator from the Karawal Nagar constituency. Singh accused Bisht of using manipulative and fraudulent activity for registered large number of fake voters. "Out of 31 names, four have been removed now while 27 are left. It is not possible for 27 grown-up individuals, including women, to reside permanently in such a small house," Singh said.
