In yet another incident of murder, a man, in a fit of rage, shot dead his son following a heated argument over some matter in the outer district of the city in the wee hours on Saturday.

According to police, they received a PCR call of firing inside a house near Rohini Sector 18, at around 1 am after which a team was sent to the spot. "They found that a man, in his twenties, was lying in a pool of blood. He was taken to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead," said the police.

The police said that the deceased was identified as Shubham, a B.Tech. degree holder. He was jobless and resided with his family. During investigation, the mother of the deceased told the police that Shubham was killed by his father, identified as Subhash Aggarwal.

Reportedly, his father used to taunt him as he had been jobless even after completing B.Tech. from Sonipat, Haryana. "After dinner, Shubham went into his room for sleeping. After a while, Subhash called him and an argument ensued between the two which culminated in his murder. Subhash, carrying a countrymade pistol, pumped a bullet on Shubham's chest which led to his death on the spot," said the police.

The police said that after killing his son, Subhash himself reached the Samaypur Badli police station and narrated the entire incident to the cops.

A case was then registered under Section 302 and he has been arrested.

Four-yr module: DU force to submit report by year-end

New Delhi, December 15
The ambitious four-year bachelor degree programme of Delhi University envisaged earlier this year is currently in the process of undergoing some major changes. The 61-member task force constituted to review the structure of the course is most likely to submit its report to the administration by December-end.

Over the last few meetings, the force has changed some of the earlier proposed suggestions for the four-year module. For example, initially the university had planned that the first year in the module will be similar for all the honours students with a common basic syllabus.

However now, it has been suggested that the honours component of the courses will be introduced in the first year of study in the form of a major subject.

In all, during the four-year study, the students will need to complete 20 to 24 major and six to eight minor subjects. The task force has also suggested two research papers as part of the eighth semester.

Also, contrary to the earlier plans to introduce a common entrance exam, now the four-year undergraduate programme is likely to kick off with the existing admission policy of the university.

In the last meeting a few days, the task force has touched upon a few more issues, including the introduction of a new two-year programme, the need to increase the role of college teachers in making the syllabus and chalking out separate guidelines for sports and extracurricular activities.

"At present, the departments of the university initiate preparation of the courses and syllabi. But it has been a view in the task force that since the college teachers will be working at ground zero, the responsibility will be on them to initiate the process," said Virender Bhardwaj, member of the task force.

"The task force has also accepted the proposal to review the internal assessment system, which has been an issue of concern in the university community for some time now," he added.

New Delhi, December 15
The Delhi BJP today staged a demonstration at Azad Nagar Chowk, demanding the arrest and filing of cases against the two ministers of Delhi government, Arvinder Singh Lovely and Haroon Yusuf.

Demanding their resignation, the party workers burnt the effigies of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and both the ministers.

President of the BJP unit of the Delhi Pradesh Vijender Gupta said that when the present Urban Development Minister, Lovely, was the Transport Minister, he had awarded contract of three cluster buses to Hardeep Singh Chadha, who died in a shootout last month.

"These buses are not being run under the contract even now. Why did the government not take any action against the company of Hardeep Singh?" asked Gupta.

He said that if he had family relations, as claimed by the minister, with the deceased Hardeep Singh Chadha and Ponty Chadha then why he was not present in the cremation and 'kriya' of both the brothers.

"When the Chadha brothers were alive, he used to talk to them on the mobile many times. After their murder, he broke family relations with them," Gupta said.
