Youth Congress demands rollback of power tariff hike Amritsar, August 6 The police had set blockades on the road leading to the residence of the Food and Civil Supplies Minister Adesh Pratap Singh Kairon. Vikramjit said, “We gheraod the Kairon’s residence and hung lanterns at its walls. Local SDM also received some lanterns on behalf of the minister.” Lambasting the Chief Minister, the Deputy Chief Minister and the revenue minister for criticising the Union Congress leaders, Chaudhary asked them to name one scheme which was implemented without aid from the Centrs government in Punjab. He demanded a detailed report of the relief fund sent earlier by the UPA government for farmers amounting to 800 crore. “The relief funds sent by the Congress-led Union government is used in sangat darshans and never reaches those who deserve it,” he alleged. He said the Youth Congress would demand relief for farmers during the visit of the union minister Sharad Pawar. “At the same time we would request the minister to directly dispense the relief funds to the affected farmers,” he said. — TNS |
