2 murders stun Moti Nagar 
Ludhiana, June 2
Two murders in Moti Nagar rocked the city in the past 24 hours. According to available information, those killed were migrant labourers aged between 22 and 24 years. The police is trying to establish whether both these murders were inter-linked or the incidents took place separately.

Centre reduces public anger

The Central government has finally decided to slash the petrol prices by Rs 2 from midnight to provide “little” relief to the consumers. The government took “bold” decision to increase the prices by Rs 7.50 per liter on May 23. This decision was condemned by one and all.

To keep a check on illegal residential colonies mushrooming on the outskirts of the city, the Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) today demolished nine colonies located along the Sidhwan Canal Expressway and the Hambran road.

4-member AAI team in city

EVMs to be ready on June 5: DC

Deputy Commissioner Rahul Tewari has said the electronic voting machines (EVMs) to be used during the municipal corporation elections would be prepared on June 5. The candidates contesting the elections could also see these on June 5.

Expressway to have service lane
The Gill Road flyover on the Sidhwan Canal Expressway, which has not been completed till date, in Ludhiana.Ludhiana, June 2
The Public Works Department has decided to construct a service lane for the safety and security of those residing besides the four-lane expressway project along the Sidhwan Canal. PWD minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon has said that there won’t be any entry point to the expressway for the illegal colonies along this project.

DIMT to start BCom professional course

Doraha Institute of Management and Technology (DIMT) will offer BCom professional degree programme from the new session. Jaspal Singh, chairman of DIMT, said the course will be run as a full time degree programme affiliated to Punjab Technical University.

Sekhon warns SAD rebels

Issuing a strict warning to rebel Akali leaders, who have filed their nomination papers for the upcoming Municipal Corporation elections, senior Akali leader and in charge for the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation elections, Janmeja Singh Sekhon today warned them to withdraw their nomination papers by today evening, else they would be expelled from the SAD.

SAD (Delhi) dissolves youth wing in Punjab

The Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi) has dissolved its youth and business (beopar) wings in Punjab and disbanded its state general body. Confirming the development, the party president Paramjit Singh Sarna said the party's talks were on with many 'panthic' parties.

Four time Limca record holder to sell his artifacts for museum
