Now that the Bains brothers have rejoined the SAD, they have been trying hard to get Jaspal’s ticket cancelled because they have been at loggerheads since long. When contacted, Jaspal Singh Giaspura claimed that after his ward got reserved for women candidates, he had tried to get ticket for his wife Preeti. “But the party has allotted ticket to Amandeep Kaur, whose husband Kulwinder Singh Giaspura is from our own village. Traffic goes haywire at Mini Secretariat
Ludhiana, May 28 As candidates of various political parties had come to file their nomination papers today, long queues of vehicles were witnessed on the Mini Secretariat premises. Neither the staff in parking lots nor the traffic policemen deputed to regulate traffic could bring relief to the general public as vehicles could be seen banging into each other due to chaos and nuisance. Situation was no different outside the Mini Secretariat as long queues were witnessed from the main entrance to the secretariat to Bhai Bala Chowk. The candidates along with their supporters had blocked roads. The security personnel at the secretariat failed to tackle huge rush. "We cannot help it. They are all politically connected and they refuse to listen to our security staff. We cannot go and argue with them to maintain law and order and discipline. The general public is suffering due to the nuisance," said an official of the district administration. Meanwhile, one of the traffic policemen on duty said he had requested the candidates to park their vehicles outside the secretariat as the parking lots were full to capacity, but to no avail. "The moment we try to act tough, they start dialling one number or the other. When the elections are round the corner, even the candidates side with their supporters. Despite issuing warnings, they parked vehicles outside the yellow-line", lamented the traffic policeman. Madhu Goel, who had gone to the District Transport Office with her daughter, complained that there was no parking space in the Mini Secretariat. "In scorching heat, we had to park our vehicle in Feroz Gandhi market. The authorities must do something so that the common man is not harassed," she said. |

Prof PS Bhogal, HOD, Political Science Department at Arya College, said the paper seemed to have been set from local self-governance section, rather than from indian politics. Students at Arya College submitted a written representation to the superintendent, addressing to the vice-chancellor, that the examination should be conducted again.
