Jalandhar, September 6
Following the Saturday clash between members of Bhalu and Chintu gangs inside the Additional District and Sessions Judge’s court, the city police has decided to further strengthen the security arrangements at the district courts complex.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) City I RK Sharma told Jalandhar Tribune that the security personnel at the courts police post would be increased. Currently there are four police personnel posted at the post.

To a query about how many more police personnel will be deployed at the post, Sharma said “Final decision on the exact number of personnel to be deployed at the courts post will be taken by the Commissioner of Police Gaurav Yadav.”

ADCP City I further said the patrolling of PCR vehicles around the district courts complex would further be intensified especially during day-time from 9 am to 5 pm.

RK Sharma visited the courts complex to have a first hand view of current security arrangements on Monday after a detailed story about lax security at the courts complex carried by Jalandhar Tribune on September 3.

Sharma was accompanied by District Bar Association (DBA) president GK Agnihotri.

The DBA president told Jalandhar Tribune that he had been informed that the city police was considering to provide three to four more police personnel at the courts post. Agnihotri said adequate security arrangements should be made to avoid any recurrence of clash or beating incident in the courts complex in the future as panic gripped the advocates and litigants after the Saturday incident.

Jalandhar Tribune in a news item, “Lax security at courts complex exposed again”, on Saturday said deployment of four policemen at the post is insufficient as nearly 5,000 litigants, witnesses and others visit the 19 courts located in the complex.

Admitting that four police personnel are inadequate for the security of the courts complex, the police post incharge Mukhtiar Singh said he had been assured by the seniors at the time of setting up the post that some more policemen would be provided to look after the security of the courts complex but still he had to do the work with only three head constables.

Jalandhar, September 6
The friendly match between Argentina and Venezuela is over but the hangover of the Jalandhar-based Freewill Sports, would perhaps be never-ending because the company is back with a priced possession-the Nivia Simbolo football autographed by soccer star Lionel Messi.

Nivia Simbolo was the official match football for the friendly match between Argentina and Venezuela. In fact, the company has five footballs with autographs of the entire Venezuela team and some of the Argentina players.

The company with its representatives returned home from Kolkata yesterday evening. All the five footballs would now be laminated and kept in a separate cabinet by the company.

An ecstatic Rajesh Kharbanda, Managing Director of the company, said that both the teams were happy. Especially Messi, after playing with the football, expressed his satisfaction by saying: “We were happy with the football”.

Talking about the autographs by the players on Simbolo footballs, Kharbanda said, “The players of both the teams were staying on the fourth floor of the Hyatt Regency hotel while we were putting up on the fifth floor. Though we could not personally meet the players but after the match, the organisers got our footballs autographed.”

Kharbanda said that it was a sight to behold watching world soccer teams play with our football. “We had taken a large supply of footballs and these were used by the teams for practice and during the match. The coaches kept demanding footballs and some of them were exclusively kicked by Messi for the spectators alone”, he added.

The Argentina team specially asked for some more Simbolo footballs, which they wanted to distribute to back home for charity purpose. “We were on cloud nine providing an additional stock of footballs to the Argentina team, which ensures our popularity the world over”, said Kharbanda.

In fact, post-Messi magic, the company is now looking forward to a further rise in the sale of Nivia Simbolo footballs. These are priced at Rs 1400 in the market. “We are still in awe of those special moments. This has set a benchmark and we would surely look forward to more milestones coming our way”, Kharbanda quipped.
