Manjit Singh had been refusing to make some correction in the girdwari, the request for which had been
submitted on October 10. On being asked for the reasons for the delay, the accused demanded a sum of Rs 50,000 to get the work done. On repeated requests, the sum was lowered to Rs 20,000 and the first installment of Rs 10,000 was to be paid in advance today. Man Singh informed the bureau and a team of officials led by DSP R.P.S. Revenue officials walk out of DC office
Tribune News Service
Jalandhar, November 20 According to sources, Deputy Commissioner Ajeet Singh Pannu was presiding over a meeting of officers to review the progress of the recovery of loans from various state bodies and expressed his displeasure over the poor recovery rate. This was resented by some revenue officials who pointed out that they alone were not responsible for the low recoveries since the officials from the lending organisations did not assist them or accompany them to execute the recovery certificates. This led to a war of words between those concerned, following which the revenue officials walked out of the meeting. It was after sustained efforts by senior officials that a rapprochement could be brought about late in the evening. Revenue officials were reluctant to say anything on the matter but added that the matter had been resolved to the satisfaction of all the parties concerned. “However, we will continue to work towards increasing the recovery rates,” they added. |
