Residents turn to pvt guards for weddings

As the police has failed to check the increasing number of snatching incidents during wedding functions, wary city residents have now begun recruiting private security agencies to keep snatchers at bay.
Fire at chemical unit
Ludhiana, November 20
Petrochemical worth lakhs of rupees was gutted at Hindustan Chemical on the Gyaspura road here today. The incident took place this afternoon.
Fire department officials said the factory produced thinner which was highly inflammable. The thinner was sold to cycle manufacturing units across the city.

325 illegal structures removed
Ludhiana, November 20
The municipal corporation removed around 325 illegal structures during a demolition drive carried out in various parts of the city today.
The drive began from Samrala Chowk and went on to Cheema Chowk, Mohan Dai Cancer Hospital.
At Samrala Chowk, timber material and haphazardly parked vehicles were removed
from the road.

Body found in sack

An unidentified body of a man was found wrapped in a sack at Jaspal Bangar village here yesterday.
The body was badly mutilated. The police said the body was that of a middle-aged man. The incident came to light this morning when a cleaner complaint to the police about foul smell emanating from a sack lying on the roadside.
