Innovative Mechanism Nawanshahr, June 26 A special counter, which perhaps is the first of its kind in the country, has been set up at the Suvidha Centre here. “A person desirous of getting mutation of his/her land just has to submit an application along with copies of the requisite documents (sale deed, will or decision of the court, etc.), an affidavit and a fee of Rs 150 at the counter. If the person has already deposited the fee at the time of registration of the land, he can submit a copy of the receipt as no extra charges other than the government fee would be charged for the delivery of the service. A receipt would be issued to the applicant from the suvidha counter,” said Deputy Commissioner Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, while divulging details to The Tribune here on Thursday. “From the suvidha counter, the application would be sent to the patwari concerned who would have to register the mutation and send his report to the Tehsildar concerned within 10 days,” said the DC, adding that with it the first hurdle of registering the mutation would be crossed. Then the applicant would be given a date by the Tehsildar in writing with his own hand on the back of the receipt for appearing before him for the final decision. This process would help doing away with the excuses on the basis of which sometimes the mutation cases are decided or dismissed, the DC said. After hearing both the parties, the Tehsildar would decide the mutation case on merit within the stipulated time mentioned on the back of the receipt. “The on-line monitoring of the mutation cases would be made regularly by him and the officials concerned would be grilled for the delay,” said Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, adding that the revenue officials had been asked to ensure transparency in deciding the cases on merit, otherwise strict action would be taken against them. Recently, Gurpreet Singh, a revenue patwari posted at Poonia, was suspended for issuing a “farad” based on a fake mutation. |

Liquor shop looted, two booked Jalandhar, June 26 The incident occurred at around 10 last night when Raj Kumar, a salesman of the shop, was at the counter and his colleagues were busy attending customers outside. The police said two motorcycle-borne youths reached the shop. While one kept sitting on the motorbike, the other, while covering his face with a cloth, approached Raj Kumar and demanded liquor bottles. They had arguments when the buyer refused to pay money for the bottles. The youth then directed Raj Kumar to hand him over the sale money in the cash box. After getting the money, the masked man and his accomplice sped away. Investigating officer Sukhwinder Singh claimed that liquor shop owner Sukhwinder Singh, alias Sukha, gave information regarding the robbery to the police late last night. He said soon a delegation of the Taksal would meet the High Commissioner of Pakistan in New Delhi and would submit a representation to be forwarded to the Pakistani President, the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister, West Punjab (Pakistan). About 35 acres belonging to Gurdwara Dera Chahal on the outskirts of Lahore was allegedly being transferred by the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (PSGPC) and the Wakf Board to the DHO branch of the Pakistan army. The gurdwara belonged to Babe Nanki. Resentment prevailed among the various Sikh organisations and devotees in Europe, Canada, America and England, who wanted to construct a serai.
