Nawanshahr, November 20 Interestingly, the statements of the Congress leaders contradict each other. Brij Mohan Singh says though he was present on the stage when the bag was being presented to the then CM Harcharan Singh Brar, he was unaware of its contents. Sekho claimed, “The amount in the bag was collected by Congress workers and no receipt was demanded by them.” In a statement recorded today, Rana Kuldip Singh said he could not attend the function as he had met with an accident then. Meanwhile, the leaders of various political parties are showing dissatisfaction over the way the probe is being conducted. A former MLA and BSP state unit general secretary termed investigations as an “eyewash” and demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter. He said patients, especially gynae cases, were faced problem in reaching the hospital in time as the construction on the elevated road on the Amritsar-Jalandhar GT Road was going on and it took around one and a half hours to reach the hospital. The SGPC had decided to shift the hospital temporarily from the Shaheedan area to the Vallah institute in view of the inspection by a team of the MCI about three months ago. The authorities had stated that the decision to shift the hospital was also taken in view of the state-of-the-art machinery available in the new institute which was lying unused for paucity of doctors and other paramedical staff. |
