Ram setu: Dhumal lashes out at Cong
Jalandhar, September 14
He alleged that the incident had badly hurt the sentiments of the Hindu voters and even a withdrawal would not pacify them.
Dhumal said this while interacting with mediapersons in the office of new mayor Rakesh Rathore. Rathore assumed the charge today after being nominated to the post on Monday. Senior deputy mayor Kamaljit Singh Bhatia and deputy mayor Parvesh Tangri too joined their offices. The MP lashed out at the Congress-led government saying that the step was deliberately followed so as to win the support of the Muslim voters. Dhumal claimed that the BJP would win with a clear majority in the forthcoming assembly elections. He said the Congress had failed to yield any palatable results in four and a half years of its power in the state. On the issue of Himachal Pradesh ministers getting exposed through sting operations carried out by TV channels, he said in case such stories were brought out without a prejudice, it did justice to the society but if done with malafide intention it could badly mar somebody’s political career. Meanwhile, Rathore continued to harp on his standard statement of providing basic amenities to the residents. He said he would strive to make Jalandhar more beautiful. Notably, the local bodies minister Manoranjan Kalia was conspicous by
his absence during the joining-in ceremony of Rathore. |

CISF, BJP men engage in fiery exchange over entry pass issue
Amritsar, September 14 Malik, along with BJP workers, had gone to receive BJP MP Navjot Sidhu, around 8 am today. Sidhu was here to hold a meeting with joint commissioner of the Department of Rural Development, Government of India and officials of the district administration. When the BJP workers were asked to produce the entry passes, it resulted in an exchange of hot words with the CISF security. Even after the airport authorities intervened, the Mayor reportedly kept on rebuking the security staff. When contacted, Mayor Malik, dismissed it as a minor incident. “The airport security had a verbal dual with the BJP district president Bakshi Ram Arora. I only reacted in his defence,” was all he could say. However, the CISF officials said the staff was only doing their duty by enquiring about the entry pass. “The CISF staff is known to be polite and the BJP workers had no reason to demand entry without following the set norms,” he said. |
