Metro link to Noida approved
New Delhi, June 25 The project was cleared by the Cabinet after the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation submitted certain clarifications sought by the Delhi government and the Noida authorities. The distance from New Ashok Nagar, Delhi to Noida is seven kilometers. The total cost of the project is Rs 736 crore. Out of the total expenditure, Rs 611 crore as capital cost of network and Rs 32 crore as the cost of land would be borne by the Uttar Pradesh government, whereas the DMRC would spend an amount of Rs 93 crore as cost of rolling stock. The line would be operational before the Commonwealth Games 2010. The incremental traffic due to Noida corridor was expected to be 53,000 per day by 2011, Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit said. Referring to the hotel facilities in the Capital, Dikshit admitted that there was a wide gap between demand and supply of hotel accommodation in the city and an additional 30,000 rooms would be required to cater to the inflow of tourists in the city during the Commonwealth Games 2010. She said, "An urgent action is needed to augment the availability of accommodation in other ways. It has been decided to submit the 'Delhi Incredible India Bed and Breakfast Establishments (Registration and Regulations) Ordinance 2007' as approved by the Cabinet, to the Lt. Governor as the assembly session may take sometime to convene. Hence, the Lt. Governor is being requested to promulgate an Ordinance." The ordinance would enable the owners of residential units, who voluntarily offered the bed and breakfast to the visitors to the city, to get registered. Their working would be regulated by the local authorities. The visitors to the city would have the experience of staying with Indian families to obtain an exposure to the culture, cuisine, ideas and way of life and enrich their experience. This would go a long way in overcoming the scarcity of accommodation in the Capital city. |

The admissions for the college's first session, that is 2002-2003, were actually made in the April 2003. The petitioner alleged that 240 days condition has been violated by the college since first batch was admitted in April 2003 and the second batch for the subsequent 2003-2004 academic year on September 2003. It was also alleged that the college though permitted by the Haryana government to utilise the facilities of its 120-bedded Gurgaon-located Civil Hospital for mandatory teaching and training of its third year dental students, its third year BDS students did not avail the opportunity. Rather, the 100 students of the first and as many of the second academic sessions, who were promoted to the third year, respectively, in January 2005 and April/May 2005,were not imparted this obligatory clinical teaching and training. It has been also alleged the college was to pay Rs 10,000 per student for its admission strength of 100 students every year to the Civil Hospital. The college charged Rs 10,000 from each of its students but never paid it. SAI cricket coaches, trainees face uncertain future
New Delhi, June 25 Authority of India (SAI) as once the stadiums go under the hammer for renovation for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, the trainees would be uprooted from their habitat. The SAI is yet to find proper grounds to keep the cricket training programmes going, though a SAI official said they were on the job to relocate the cricket trainees. The SAI runs hugely popular cricket centres in the Capital--at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the National Stadium and the Indira Gandhi Stadium. A source said the cricket centres have been given one more month as the SAI is still searching for venues to relocate them, which may be at the Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi University and the Central Secretariat ground. There have been demands for the services of the SAI cricket coaches from the reputed public schools like DPS and others for their services, though the SAI is yet to formalise any decision. Once the renovation works begin, no coaching activity would be allowed in any of the stadiums till the completion of the 2010 Commonwealth Games. SAI assistant director Manjushree S Roy, however, said enough ground work and creative thinking have gone into ensuring that the athletes, training at the stadiums under various schemes of the SAI, do not miss out on their training. She said care has also been taken to bring in more trainees under the ambit of the SAI schemes by focussing at the larger goal of the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Mrs Roy said the institutions which have been offered to operate the SAI schemes are: Delhi University, Delhi Administration, Civil Services Sports Control Board, Jamia Millia, Kendriya Vidyala Sangathan, Delhi Development Authority, Central Reserve Police Force, Border Security Force, Northern Railway, New Delhi Municipal Corporation and the Central Board of Secondary Education. She said the SAI would provide the necessary facilities like maintenance of fields, equipment, coaches and supporting staff. And the sports trainees of these institutions would get free expert coaching and equipment from the SAI. |
