Batala, June 16
The Punjab School Education Board has withheld results of 15 students of 12th class of R.R. Bawa DAV College for Girls here, without giving any reason. The students are from medical and non-medical streams.

The anxious parents said the board has withheld the result at the time when their wards have to appear for PMT and CET counselling, which would commence from June 25. They fear that non-declaration of result may leave their kids disqualified for a year.

The students claimed that at the time of submission of examination forms all the required formalities were completed by them and neither the board nor college authorities pointed out any objections while issuing the roll numbers.

Also no student was informed about any such lapse till the declaration of results on June 7. The last date for the submission of PMT forms is June 23.

The worried parents have appealed to the board authorities to expedite the result proceeding so that the future of the students may not be jeopardised.

When contacted, Satish Khosla, vice-principal of the college said she visited the PSEB head office in Mohali on Friday.

“The board officials will be here for verification of records by June 19. The results will be declared soon after,” she added.

An aged farmer Kakka Singh of Baupur village in Shahkot alleged that Punjab revenue minister, Ajit Singh Kohar’s PA Jarnail Singh felled over 30 trees from about one-third portion of his six acre agricultural land after encroaching it on Thursday.
Vimal Kant, Shahkot SHO, did nothing to stop him and his associates from doing so, alleged Kakka Singh.

When contacted Kohar denied any interference in the land dispute between Kakka Singh and his PA.

He further claimed that the land belonged to his PA. Similarly, SHO claimed that he had no information about the incident. No one had brought the matter to his notice, he claimed.

However, Kakka Singh alleged that Jarnail Singh started felling 32 trees after encroaching about two acres of his land with the help of at least 50 of his associates, despite a stay order from a local court.

Kakka Singh said he brought the matter to the notice of the SHO immediately but instead of acting on the stay order, he took side of the minister’s PA and did nothing to stop him.

Kakka Singh has submitted a written complaint to the SSP.

The SSP has marked the complaint to the Shahkot DSP, Daljinder Singh Dhillon. Kakka Singh has also sent copies of the complaint to the DC, Human Rights Commission, Punjab DGP and the DIG.
