Tribune News Service

Jalandhar, June 8
The Punjab State Petrol Pump Letter of Intent Holders’ Association has alleged that the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas was not allotting petrol pumps to selected candidates despite issuing letters of intent to this effect.

“Certain candidates have even crossed the age bar waiting for the sanctioned allotments,” said the association in a press note.

This despite the fact that the ministry can allot petrol pumps in the Company Owned, Company Operated (COCO) and ad hoc dealership categories, the press note added.

The ministry can order purchase of land at various sites allotted to these candidates at market price but these oil companies were advertising for lease after six months. The association has requested the Union minister for petroleum and natural gas for suitable monetary compensation to selected candidates,” office-bearers of the association said.
