Keep your word on atta-dal scheme
Jalandhar, June 3 Stating that the Badal government has failed miserably to tackle the Dera crisis, Dullo said the clash in Bathinda between the Sacha Saudha followers and some members of Sikh community could have been avoided. “Congress has directed its men to work for maintaining peach and harmony in the state. The party is holding peace marches across the state,” he added. In reply to a question on corruption case against former CM Amarinder Singh in Ludhiana City Centre scam, he said if any Congressman is found involved in corruption, the party would not shield him. However, if he is a victim of political vendetta, the party would stand by him, said Dullo. He further said the party would decide its stand on Amarinder case after the challan is presented in the court. Dullo said a meeting of party’s coordination committee would be held on June 9 in Chandigarh. Dullo said he had demanded 70 per cent job quota for Punjabis in various mega projects being set up in the state. He also criticised the Vasundhra Raje Scindia government in Rajasthan for not handling the Gujjar agitation in a right manner. Later, the PPCC chief presided over a meeting of the party workers. |
It’s payback time for travel agents
Jalandhar, June 3 Stating this at a press conference here today, LBP president Balwant Singh Ramoowalia said the LBP forced a travel agent to return Rs 5.30 lakh to Mohinder Singh of Hoshiarpur. Mohinder’s son Paramjit had been sent to Africa instead of Spain as assured by the travel agent, where he was jailed, said Ramoowalia, adding that the LBP ensured his release. Following which, he returned to his native place but committed suicide after sometime as their financial condition became bad as their 3 kanal land was mortgaged for giving money to the travel agent. Similarly, another travel agent agreed to pay back Rs 7.5 lakh taken from Paramjit Kaur of Naushahara Majja in Batala for sending her to the UK and he also paid Rs 1 lakh as the first instalment. Ramoowalia claimed that the LBP saved Ranjeet Kaur of Moga and her two children from committing suicide as she did not know whereabouts of her husband Bakhtawar Singh, who had gone to Philippines several years ago. — TNS |
