100 days in office: SAD terms it an achievement
Jalandhar, June 9 And Congress played a true role of an opposition. It gave a sound drubbing to the combine for failing to keep promises. “The 100-day tenure of the SAD-BJP has been a lackluster affair and people are disappointed with the ruling combine as it has failed to honour its poll promises and deliver goods. And the worst is that they were unable to maintain law and order situation,” said Arun Walia, president of the District Congress Committee (I). “What happened to cheap atta-dal, which the combine had promised to provide to people from Baisakhi onwards? Moreover, the SAD chief Parkash Singh Badal had assured that temporary or ad hoc employees such as, home guard jawans, SDOs, and safai sewaks would be regularised on the very first day of his assumption to the office of Chief Minister. But nothing of that sort has happened till date. What about promises made for welfare of mediapersons?” “So on what grounds they can justify their government,” asked Walia. Interestingly, leaders of the SAD-BJP combine and the Congress organised parallel meetings today to prove their respective stances in the light of completion of the 100 days of the SAD-BJP government in Punjab. A number of district level leaders of the Congress including, Arun Walia, Kamal Sachdeva, senior vice-president and Satnam Bitta, vice-president, held a meeting at the District Congress Bhawan. The SAD-BJP leaders, including, Krishan Dev Bhandari, Bhagat Chuni Lal, both MLAs, Shiv Dayal Chugh, district BJP chief and Charanjit Singh Channi, SAD’s district chief chose the Circuit House to highlight the plus points of the combine government. “We have helped Punjab get rid of drug menace to a large extent during the 100 days of the government and now are proceeding to ensure all around development of the state. The government is also going to fill 10,000 vacancies in the education department as the education is one of top priorities of the government. Corruption has also been contained in Punjab. Punjab is moving towards a drug and corruption free future,” claimed the SAD-BJP leaders. |
