Scam in liquor vend allotment alleged
Hisar, April 3 Stating that the new excise policy, introduced by the Hooda government, had proved to be a failure, Prof Singh maintained that the government’s move to open more vends and allow “free flow of liquor” from other states would lead to clashes and upsurge in crime. Addressing a news conference here today, the former minister pointed out that contrary to the claims of the government, no increase had been registered in the revenue earned through licence fee for liquor vends. He also condemned the reported decision of the authorities concerned to allot vends to “selected” parties at the considerably reduced rates. The INLD leader even charged the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre with having a pro-Punjab stance and neglecting Haryana’s interests. “In view of the impending elections to the Punjab Assembly, the Centre is trying to give an edge to the Punjab Chief Minister, Capt Amarinder Singh, at the cost of the interests of Haryana,” he added.
