Jalandhar
Cyclist killed
: An unidentified 23-year-old cyclist was killed when a speeding truck hit him on the GT Road near the Focal Point Chowk. The body of the deceased was sent to the Civil Hospital here for postmortem, the police said. One held: One person has been arrested for carrying illicit liquor. The accused Jeet Singh, a resident of Dhani village, was arrested and 200 kg of illicit country-made liquor was allegedly recovered from his possession.

Phagwara
Liquor seized
: The special staff of the Phagwara police recovered 40 cartons of liquor from a mini-truck at a naka near Chaheru village here on Saturday. The police also arrested Rashtar Pal Singh and Harjinder Singh, both residents of Pehowa in Haryana. A case under the Excise Act has been registered against the accused at the Sadar police station and the truck has been impounded.
