Two cousins shot dead over land dispute

Hangola (Panchkula), October 31
The mourning wife of Nirmal Singh, who was shot dead at Hangola village, near Barwala, on Monday. Two cousins were shot dead and two others were injured here this morning, when “illegal” occupants of the village shamlat land fired indiscriminately at some villagers, who were on their way to the fields.

Cracker-sellers continue to flout safety norms despite arrests by the local police. Though each cracker-seller is required to comply with mandatory safety directions, including the maintenance of a minimum 15-metre distance between two stalls, they are recklessly offering ash cans and rockets in cubicles with common walls.

MC to take charge of obligatory functions

The Chandigarh Administration has clarified that it has transferred all obligatory functions under Section-44 of the MC Act to the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh.

Punjab Government urged to build road

The Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Mr Chander Mohan, has urged Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to take up the work of the construction of the 2-km stretch of road between Khol Fateh Singh village in Panchkula district and Khaiwala village in Ropar district on the Punjab-Haryana border.
