World Radiography Day on Nov 8

The India Association of Radiological Technologists (IART) will celebrate November 8 as the World Radiography Day to pay homage to German scientist W.C. Rontgen, a German physicist, who discovered X-rays in 1895, Mr S. C. Bansal, General Secretary, IART, said here today.

Special programmes like workshops, symposiums, seminars, quiz contests, blood donation camps, tree plantation campaigns, cycle rallies, slogan writing competitions etc would be organised all over India on the occasion.

A special quiz contest will be held on the occasion at the Department of Radio Diagnosis, PGIMER, Chandigarh.

Tennis coaching camp from Nov 13

International tennis coach and the CLTA’s visiting coach Akhtar Ali will again be in the city to conduct a special 10-day coaching camp for a select group of young tennis players in the CLTA Tennis Stadium here from November 13 to 22.

Stating this, Mr Rajan Kashyap, chairman, CLTA, said Akhtar Ali would fine tune the skills of young boys and girls playing in the national and international circuit. Mr Kashyap added that during his stay in Chandigarh, Akhtar Ali would also help to upgrade the skills of the CLTA’s faculty of trainers.

Sunil Kumar Sipaeya, National Champion-2005, and Ashutosh Singh, finalist of the National Championships-2005, will also participate in the camp.

Mr S.M. Sharma, honorary secretary, CLTA, stated that the CLTA had invited top rank players from the region to avail the opportunity. He said the camp would be open to young players from the CLTA as well as outsiders.
