Jagtar Singh Hawara, alleged Babbar Khalsa International chief
and prime accused in the Beant Singh assassination case, today dropped
another bombshell by threatening to sue the Punjab Chief Minister,
Capt Amarinder Singh, and the Shiromani Akali Dal president, Mr
Parkash Singh Badal, for allegedly "misusing" his name
during public meetings.

The body of Kuldeep Singh, a member of the Shiromani Gurdwara
Parbandhak Committee, who was gunned down by two
motorcycle-borne unidentified youths near his house last evening, was
cremated in Chakk Ala Baksh village near Mukerian, 50 km from here
this afternoon. Mr Harmanjit Singh, an elder son of the deceased lit
the pyre. He was 42 and leaves a wife and two sons.

Mr Inderjit Singh Walia, Additional Sessions Judge, Sangrur, today
granted anticipatory bail to a Malerkotla Municipal Councillor and
former president of the council, Ms Bholi Ismail, and bail to her
husband Mohammad Ismail, also a Malerkotla Municipal Councillor, who is
in judicial custody, in a case registered under Sections 307 (attempt to
murder), 323, 506, 498-A and 406 of the IPC on September 7, 2005, at
Malerkotla police station.

on parole commits crime, arrested

The district police today claimed to have busted a gang of robbers,
including a life convict on parole, for looting Harjinder Singh, a
goldsmith of the Chheharta area. Sanjeev Kumar, alias Sikka, had been
released on parole on January 4 and returned to jail on February 2.
