Seven hurt in accident

Seven persons, including three women, were injured when a private bus of Ludhiana Transport Company collided head-on with a Tata 407 which in turn hit a Honda City car opposite the Mullanpur Dakha Police Station here today.

MCs directed to speed up preventive measures

Implement Tobacco Act, say protesters

Nearly 2,000 schoolstudents and activists of the Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle today carried out a march through the city, seeking implementation of the Tobacco Act, 2003, even as a large number of minor children were spotted selling the drug at roadside kiosks in violation of the Act.

Chemical analysis report indicates rape

The chemical examination into the viscera and swabs collected from the body of an unidentified 16-year-old girl, whose decomposed body was found near the Sutlej in Qadian village six months ago, have revealed that one or more persons had brutally raped and later murdered the girl.

A ‘fields day’ on soyabean was organised here today at Jhakrandi village 2 km from here by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra Samrala of Punjab Agricultural University. Dr Gursharan Singh Kalkat, Chairman, Farmers’ Commission, Punjab and former Vice-Chancellor of PAU, exhorted the farmers to reduce area under paddy crops.
