4 students seriously hurt as buses collide
Chandigarh, July 26
Four students of Sector 44 St Xavier’s School were seriously injured early this morning after their bus rammed into a roadways bus near the Aroma Hotel traffic lights in Sector 22. Twenty students were in the bus.

It takes a tragedy to wake up cops
Chandigarh, July 26
It takes an accident to wake up the Chandigarh police out of slumber. Though school bus drivers and conductors have been giving two hoots to the safety of school students since long, the cops challaned erring drivers “in bulk” only after four students were injured in a mishap this morning.

Stray dogs: MC to seek NGO help

Unable to deal with the stray dog menace the Municipal Corporation, has yet another plan up its sleeve. Under the new scheme, the two animal welfare organisations in the city, People For Animals and Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, will be asked to take over the entire sterilisation operation of stray dogs in the city.

60-year-old woman dies in mishap

A chase, an accident and cases of liquor seized

It was a chase in Bollywood style. The antagonist was the driver of an Ambassador car with a redlight. He was being chased by a PCR vehicle of the Chandigarh police. The chase ended with two persons sustaining injuries and the car ramming into a tree near a government school in Sector 7.

Master Plan reviewed

The Governor of Punjab and UT Administrator Gen S.F. Rodrigues (retd), while reviewing the implementation of the City Beautiful master plan, today, asked the senior officers of the Administration to look ahead and prepare an action plan for meeting the long-term needs of water, power, housing and other supportive infrastructure for the next two decades.
