FAKE CDs SEIZED: The police has seized 90 compact discs from two different persons of Rangar Nangal police station in Batala police district. Dr Jatindera Kumar Jain, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Batala police district, said here on Tuesday that Sub-Inspector Balwinder Singh had recovered 50 fake CDs from Balwinder Singh, a son of Avtar Singh of Pati Khoje village. JUDICIAL REMAND: Two PCR cops Inderjit Singh and Naresh Kumar, who were caught red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 900 were on Tuesday remanded to judicial custody by the local court. They were arrested under various sections of Anti-Corruption Act on Monday. DONATED: Mr Jarnail Singh Wahid, SAD organising secretary, has donated Rs 2 lakh to various religious, social and educational institutions in memory of his father Sadhu Singh Wahid. The announcement was made on Monday at the bhog ceremony of Sadhu Singh Wahid who had died on July 21.

TREE PLANTATION: The Rotary Club began a tree plantation drive by planting 60 saplings in different parts of the city to mark the Vanmahotsav. A function was organised in the city, in which a large number of the people participated. Dr Ashok Gupta, Rotary Club president and the environmentalist, Mr Bishan Dass, appealed to people to plant more trees.VANMAHOTSAVA: Lions Club in collaboration with the State Bank of Patiala today celebrated Vanmahotsava in Gunia Majra village near here today by planting more than 100 saplings.

ACCIDENT: The Principal of BD High School, Mr G.C. Sharma, sustained injuries in an accident on Tuesday. Mr Sharma was going to the school from his Mahesh Nagar residence when his motor cycle skidded on the Jagardhari road. He was admitted to the local Civil Hospital.

CHEQUE GIVEN: The Deputy Commissioner, Mr Mahender Kumar, presented a cheque for Rs 50,000 by way of ex-gratia to Mrs Savitri Devi, mother of late Rajender Kumar who died in rail accident at Kauri village in Ludhiana district. CONSTITUTED : The district administration has constituted teams of officials for the recovery of electricity bills from the consumers in the rural areas of the district. Disclosing this here the DC said that officials would visit the village on fixed dates. The campaign, he said, started from Tuesday may continue till the end of next month.
