Ambala, April 13 The Sanatan Dharma Sabha has set up the region’s first movie theatre for screening of 3-D movies as well as a planetarium in Ambala
Contonement. While it is seventh 3-D cinema hall in the country, it is the 13th planetarium India. The planetarium and 3-D cinema hall are part of the Bharatiya Public School planetarium complex which has began operations from Tuesday. Mr Ramesh Aggarwal, president of the sabha, said the project was conceptualised about a decade back by the then sabha president Seth Moti Prasad. “Seth Moti Prasad was keen to set up a planetarium in the school complex for the benefit of people from different walks of life,” he said. Since adequate space was not available, the work was started after land was allotted by the Haryana Government opposite Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose park. “The planetarium complex has been constructed at a cost of Rs 3.75 crore,” he said. The complex houses a planetarium, a 3-D cinema hall, an air-conditioned conference hall, temple, art gallery, six classrooms and a spacious canteen. The main hall has a capacity of 1,000 persons. The sabha is planning to hold four shows at planetarium and cinema hall in the morning and four in the evening. “The morning shows will be for school students for whom it will be a unique learning experience. The evening shows will be open for general public,” sabha members said. Mr Sushil Aggarwal, general secretary of the sabha, said the equipment for the planetarium was bought from a Japanese company. Planetarium complex will enable overall development of the children. We offer a number of activities which will contribute towards significant improvement in the personality of the child. Instead of watching television, a student can now learn from the different hobby classes and play a variety of sports,” Mr Aggarwal said. Ms Shabnam Nath, who is the convener of the hobby classes, said the classes were available for a number of things. “The hobby classes include skating, karate, dance, music and aerobics. Our aerobics classes are particularly popular among women,” she said. Ms Nath said the hobby classes would be held throughout the year. “This complex will be centre of activity seven days a week.
