Girl allowed to take exam on stretcher
Karnal, March 17 A girl who met with an accident and suffered injuries while going to her examination centre was allowed to take English paper in the Matriculation examination at Gharaunda, near here, yesterday while lying on a stretcher. Dahiya today announced that the annual examination of graduation classes would commence from March 31. 98 booths hypersensitive in Hisar
Hisar, March 17 Ms Deepti Uma Shankar, District Returning Officer, stated in a press note that 52 and 46 booths in six Assembly segments had been identified as hypersensitive and sensitive, respectively. The booths of Haryana Agricultural University, Sainian Mohalla, Parav area, Dhani Shyam Lal, Dhani Barwali, Bharat Nagar, Vinod Nagar, Shiv Nagar and Surya Nagar in the town were identified as hypersensitive. Ten other booths in different colonies were declared as sensitive. Bass, Petwar, Thurana, Narnaund, Majra, Pali, Ugalan, Data, Kheri Gangan and Gurana villages of the Narnaund segment and Daulat Pur, Litani, Chhan, Bhanbhori and Mirch Pur villages of the Barwala segment were identified as most sensitive. Polling booths in 13 villages of both these segments were identified as sensitive. She said Sisai, Ghirai, Ladwa, Kinala and Niyana villages of the Ghirai segment and Balsamand, Salem Garh, Sadal Pur, Chaudhariwas, Adampur and Siswal villages of the Adampur segment as hypersensitive. Four villages of the Ghirai segment and eight villages of the Adampur segment were declared as sensitive. The administration had also identified booths at Char Kutub
Gate, Balmiki mohalla of Hansi and Bhatol, Sorkhi, Dhana Khurd, Banda
Heri, Dhani Gujran, Dhani Raju, Dhani Sankri, Pal, Umra, Sultan Pur,
Singhwa and Madan Heri villages of the Hansi segment as hypersensitive,
while 11 villages of the segment were declared as sensitive. |

to the notice of the party high command. “Mr Chautala is unhappy with me
since I have prevented him from misusing power. Incidentally, the
Election Commission has stated that there should not be any personal
attack on a candidate.” |
DC asks officials to remove hoardings Ambala, March 17 About 85 hoardings were put up close to state and national highways in Ambala against the target of 125 a few months ago. Two days ago one of the corporations had put up a few hoardings which were later removed. According to information, the Chief Election Officer of the state had sent a fax message to the Deputy Commissioner, Ambala, asking him to get the hoardings put up by the state government removed. The officials of the corporations have not started the process of removing the hoardings till today evening. One of the officials said it was not easy to remove such huge hoardings on a short notice. He said they had to arrange some vehicles to transport these hoardings to the offices safely. Meanwhile, some of the hoardings related to the dream project
of the Prime Minister are still placed on the main GT road in Ambala.
Two days ago the hoardings were covered with a cloth even then the
matter written on the hoardings were visible. In some of the Central
Government offices the multicolour posters and small size hoardings
narrating the Union Government’s achievements have still not been
removed. |

Sonepat, March 17 Talking to reporters at Gohana yesterday, he urged the Chief Election Commissioner to order a high-level probe into the use of police vehicles, officials, telephones and wireless sets of the DGP and take action if Mr Malik was found guilty of violating the model code of conduct in the Lok Sabha elections. He also alleged that motorcycles of the police Department were being used and telephones and wireless sets made available by the DGP to his wife for reaching the people in the remote areas of the constituency. Mr Sangwan also alleged that constables in plain clothes had been deployed by the DGP for canvassing and for putting pressures on voters to vote in favour of his wife. He also alleged that hoardings
put by the state government at focal points had not been removed despite
instructions by the Election Commission for this regard. — PTI |
Writing with wrist, she hopes to top exam
Panipat, March 17 Armed with determination Nirmala has developed a sort of addiction for success. She came out in flying colours in Class VIII and Class X exams as she managed to top the merit list of successful candidates with more than 80 per cent marks to her credit. She says as she is busy putting her best foot forward in the Class XII examination being conducted by the Haryana School Education Board. She is also a fine painter and a computer savvy girl. She lost her limbs when she was just eight-month-old. Despite all odds, she worked hard to learn to write like other children. After constant efforts she learnt to write with her wrist. When asked about her inspiration and support, she gave all credit to her family members, school teachers and friends. Nirmala said all the persons had helped her to over come her disability and bank on her strength instead of her weaknesses. Talking to The Tribune at her house near Kalandher Chowk, she said. “I was three-year-old when I took admission in the school. The Principal of the school helped me a lot and arranged a special teacher to improve my writing. Thereafter I devoted hours to overcome my disability”. Talking about her achievements Nirmala said: “I scored 87 per cent marks in Class VIII and 83 per cent in Class X exams. The district administration gave me a prize for my achievement twice on Independence Day and Republic day. But Nirmala has one regret that she
could not become a doctor due to her disability. She said: “I wanted to
become doctor but as I could not do the practicals I gave up the idea.
She took admission in commerce. She plans to do MCA or MBA after
graduation. |

17 Sikha Arora fractured her foot as the motor cycle on which she was riding pillion collided with a car 15 km from here. After
getting treatment at the Community Health Centre, she forced her
relatives to take her to the examination centre on a stretcher. The
Centre Superintendent, taking a humanitarian stand, allowed the girl to

BA exams from March 31
Hisar, March 17 Talking to reporters here, he said the university had decided to hold examination for postgraduate classes after the Lok Sabha elections. These examination would begin from May 15. The university would make a foolproof arrangement to avoid any incident of paper leakage during the examination. Question papers would be sent to examination centres on the same day of the examination. Besides checks by flying squads, special teams of university and local district officials would also visit the examination centres. Dr Dahiya said he had called upon a meeting of university officials on March 26 to discuss the introduction of some new courses from the next session. The university had also decided to hold entrance exam for B.Ed classes on its own. The University Grant Commission (UGC) had recognised the university and students of colleges affiliated to this university should not worry about their future. Commenting on reports published in a section of media that the UGC had
denied to provide grant to this university, the VC said that when the
university did not demand any grant from the UGC then where was the
question of denial. |
