Kids release their newspaper

Ludhiana, January 27
Children of Chanda Mama Play School created different formats for their school newspaper, using various art and craft techniques. During one of the art and craft sessions held here today, they released three formats of their school newspaper titled ‘Chanda Mama Times’, ‘Chanda Mama Arts’ and ‘Chanda Mama Festivals’. The kids pasted their group photographs of events and contests held in the school recently.

The teachers guided the children in most of the jobs. It was a feeling of accomplishment that the teachers and students had at the end of the exercise.

Ms Harpreet Gill, principal, said the exercise was an attempt at motor muscle development, pre-reading skills, recognition of alphabets and developing self-esteem.

Sarika declared Basant Queen

Ludhiana, January 27
Contests for Basant Queen, debate and slogan writing competitions were held at the Malwa College of Education for Women, Civil Lines, here today.
Young women dressed up in colourful attire took part in Basant Queen competition. Sarika Gulati was declared Basant Queen. Charu Saini was chosen the first runner up. Madhu Heera was declared the second runner up. Consolation prize went to Manisha Narula.

In debate competition, Tripti Sethi won the first prize. She was followed by Karamjeet Kaur and Raju Kaushal. In the slogan writing competition, the topic was spring season. The participating students used various calligraphy and painting techniques to present their slogans.
