Kisan sabha flays villagers’ arrest Fatehabad, June 24 Mr Krishan Swaroop Gorakhpuria, state secretary of the HKS, while talking to media persons here today, alleged that the state government had been resorting to repressive measures against people instead of paying heed to their woes. He demanded the withdrawal of cases of sedition registered against farmers in various parts of the state and said the government should talk to farmers for finding an amicable solution to the issue of pending power bill arrears. He expressed concern at the alleged arrest of hundreds of farmers in the state for recovery of loans. He alleged that the Vajpayee government at the Centre recently announced waiving of interest on the loans of farmers but no action had yet been taken on that announcement. He demanded immediate release of all farmers arrested for the recovery of loan amount. He said the HKS had launched a drive ‘karja mukti abhiyan’ in the state and it would organise programmes at Hisar and Assandh on July 23 and July 30, respectively in this connection. |
